I will go for an unusual way to get a sequencer-clock, but the sequencer itself is very simple.
You need a binary counter, or a hex-counter and a shift register.
I went for the second way, i use:
4510 HEX-counter and a
4028 shift register
The 4510 gets the clock pulses from units, and thats the unusual way, that are korg sync control capable.
Always test on a developers board first:
I for example used the sync control app on my iphone, but technically you could use a lot of different signals for triggering the clock.
I used my mixer inbetween the iphone and the optocoupler for securityreasons, as if the optocouplers wouldnt be secure enough….
For triggering the actual gate signals, i will use a lot of optocouplers too.
Read the datasheets of the ICs for more information, but as its very basic logic i think everything should be clear.
I will probably upload a stripboard version for the sequencer in the future, if someone needs it.
The LEDs are soldered to the long horizontal PCB, that sits between the box and the switches.
The whole sequencer circuit is on the small vertical PCB to the right, together with all the connections from the developers board from the picture above.
The two PCBs are connected via eight-line flatcable to safe some space and tidy up a bit.
The optocoupler from the developers-board picture is soldered directly to a tiny PCB that is soldered to the 1/4″ socket to save some space.
